Preamble

Review of Lesson 1.7

Procedures:

  1. Lubricate wheel nuts.
  2. Remove the wheel nuts.
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4. Remove lead weights and place them in an approved container marked “Lead”.
  5. Collect the pressure sensors, if applicable.
  6. Deflate and remove the tires.

Quality Control:

  1. Tires for re-sale should not have excessive wear, distortions, cuts, or cracks.
  2. Rims should not be dented or have excessive damage or rust.
  3. The finishing on Alloy Wheels must not be in poor condition or chipped.
  4. Any damage should be noted on the work order.
  5. Special tools: Tire changing machine, Tire lever.

Health & Safety:

  1. Lead is harmful to the environment. Tire weights must be disposed of in an approved container.
  2. Risks include back strains and risk of injury from tire lever slipping.
